CELEBRATIONWORKS currently seeks
unsentimental, off-beat, comedic one act plays for February 2011 Valentine’s
weekend shows.
While we have no desire to limit anyone's creativity, we don’t do plays that contain violence, are sexually explicit or contain obscenity. At this time, we are unable to do adaptations, musicals, or plays for children younger then 14.
Set: simple or suggested. Maximum 5
characters.
A signature Celebrationworks play is
humorous, contains fresh ideas, characterization, dialogue, plot, is
thoughtful without being ponderous has significance and is theatrical. Plays
that shed new light on hopes, fears and joys of different cultures, race,
lifestyle, political loyalties and religious beliefs, express human dilemmas
and have consequences, get our attention.
California writers are given preference. We prefer unpublished plays and plays that have not been produced in Southern California. (Plays that have had staged readings are eligible.) Email submissions accepted. A cover letter, a synopsis, and credits, if you have them, should accompany the play. Please send to celebrationworks@gmail.com.
